Masvingo – While fishing at Kyle Dam, father and son drowned and died on the 28th of December.
The incident took place at around 11pm.
It is said that Nhamo Chikwaya 45 of Village Tazvirova, Chief Chikwanda Masvingo went for fishing with his son Emmanuel Chikwaya 24 and Munyaradzi Mhande 38 Village Rusvaya, Chief Charumbira.
The three were fishing using a homemade boat and when they came at the centre of the dam, the boat capsized and Munyaradzi managed to swim to the river bank and the other two failed to swim and drowned.
Their bodies were retrieved today.
One source said that before they went fishing they are said to have caught a Kudu which they then carried in their boat as they were fishing and the weight of the Kudu and three people overpowered the boat hence leading to it sinking.
Insp Mazula urged the members of the public to avoid fishing in illegal places.
