CCC rallies marred by violence… police blamed

by Bustop TV News

The pposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has blamed lack of police presence at their rallies as a cause of electoral violence that rocked their recent rallies.

Violence rocked CCC’s rallies in Chivi and Gokwe-Nembudziya over the weekend.

The CCC party claims violence was initiated by ZANU PF supporters.

“We have written to the police, actually we will be submitting our letter to the Commissioner-General of Police (Godwin Matanga) to ensure that people are safe. Lack of police presence at rallies is the one that is causing this inter-party violence.

We believe that police must be able to maintain law and order without fear or favour,” CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Siziba said.

Siziba said their party has been receiving support from the rural areas which was ZANU PF’s stronghold,  sending the ruling party into panick mode.

“We are receiving a lot of support from the rural areas and now Zanu PF is panicking. Now they are using violence to intimidate the electorate.

The party (ZANU PF) is in trouble, they are in panick after our invasion of the rural areas, these marginalised  areas are clear. They are tired of this failed system, the roads and health care there is bad,” he said.
