The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has demanded the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to be neutral in the upcoming by-elections which are to be held tomorrow.

Addressing journalists at a press conference in Harare today CCC spokesperson Advocate Fadzai Mahere said tomorrow’s by-election will be a test for ZEC to see whether they can bring free and fair elections.

She also said ZEC will risk being disbanded if it fails to be neutral as required of it by the constitution.

“It’s our duty as citizens that we hold ZEC to account to ensure safe custody of the voter roll and change of electoral reforms.

“The purpose of the by-elections tomorrow is to conduct a test run, to assess how much work we as citizens need to do to ensure that we meet our goal and also to measure the readiness of ZEC, are they ready to meet the constitutionality test, the integrity test, the neutrality test, the legality test to ensure that we don’t have another disputed election in 2023 that will lead to yet another legitimate regime.”

Mahere urged all the CCC supporters to go and vote in their numbers despite the loopholes in the ZEC system.
