Bulawayo citizens will likely face transport blues today as Kombi drivers from the Zimbabwe United Passengers Company (ZUPCO) have downed tools owing to outstanding salaries.

This was revealed on twitter by Bulawayo’s online publication, CITE.

According to CITE, the kombi drivers unanimously held a peaceful demonstration at a ZUPCO depot located in Kelvin West, demanding their salaries.

“ZUPCO kombi drivers are currently holding a peaceful demo against salary issues, at ZUPCO Kelvin depot in Bulawayo.”

The drivers have reportedly gone for two months without receiving their salaries.

Nonetheless, ZUPCO District Operations Manager, Tinaye Rwasoka arrived at the depot to address the drivers’ grievances.

Rwasoka informed them (drivers) that their backdated salaries will reflect in their accounts in the afternoon by 2pm.

Despite Rwasoka’s salary promise, the drivers are determined not to leave the depot until the salary issue has been resolved.
